On 5 April 2025 Meta released Llama 4 Scout and Llama 4 Maverick — open weights, natively multimodal, mixture-of-experts. Scout is 17B active parameters with 16 experts and is said to fit on one H100 at Int4. Maverick is 17B active with 128 experts.
Meta previewed Llama 4 Behemoth as a teacher model and said it was still training, so it was not released. Scout and Maverick went to llama.com and Hugging Face, and into Meta AI in WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and the Meta.ai site.
Open weights are not a blank cheque. The Llama 4 Community License still limits very large deployments. Read the card before you ship.
