OpenAI ships GPT-5.5

OpenAI released GPT-5.5 on 23 April 2026 as its next general model. Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users get it in ChatGPT and Codex. GPT-5.5 Pro is for Pro, Business, and Enterprise. The company updated the post a day later: the API and a revised system card were then live.

List prices for gpt-5.5 are $5 per million input tokens and $30 per million output tokens, with a 1 million token context window. gpt-5.5-pro is listed at $30 / $180. Batch and Flex are half of the standard rate.

A new model name is not a new duty of care. The useful check is still what the system card claims, who can use it, and what it is not allowed to do for you.
